The Patrol Division is the backbone of the police department. These are the men and woman who will be the first to respond to the scene. Here they will utilize their training and knowledge and determine what is needed. All of our patrol officers are well trained, receiving some of the best law enforcement training in the nation. The Division also supports a K-9 Unit , which currently has two specialized trained canines, both German Shepherds. Among our Patrol Officers, there are a number of members who are trained and equipped for specialized or high risk situations. This is known as the Fort Lee Police E.S.U. or Emergency Services Unit. Each day, one or more qualified officers from the shift are assigned to our E.S.U. Response Vehicle. Aside from their regular patrol duties, they may also be called upon as first responders to extremely high risk situations. The Patrol Division work various shifts. Currently there are six different shifts per day ensuring that the Borough is covered on a continuous basis. Our Patrol units are actively engaged in proactive patrol scanning our streets for possible problems and addressing these problems before they escalate. Patrolling the area surrounding the George Washington Bridge, world's busiest bridge and a corridor to one of the biggest cities in the world, our patrol division experiences every type of call imaginable and is quite capable of handling the most unusual circumstances with the utmost in professionalism. |
